Alan Turing tribute
The November issue of the Notices of the AMS is a tribute to our hero Alan Turing. The timing is odd because such things are typically done when there is a significant anniversary, which does not seem to be the case here. (70 years since the Turing machines paper?)
Unlike the case of the tributes to Grothendieck, not much is said about Turing's life, except in Barry Cooper's article.

I understand the sentiment.
You know how Szemeredi's Regularity Lemma is one of the fundamental results of combinatorics, Gowers' paper on arithmetic progressions is giving us a glimpse of a "higher-degree" Fourier analysis with non-linear characters, and the work of Green and Tao is creating an expected synthesis of methods from combinatorics, analysis and ergodic theory, yada, yada, yada.
But this stuff has applications to extractors! and to PCP! and to property testing! So exciting!
