Jackson arrived Friday night with his three children and will stay through Wednesday on the first leg of a swing through Asia that will include stops in Singapore, Shanghai, China and Hong Kong.

Given that the man can be touring Asia but still not be on Earth, perhaps the reporter felt the need reaffirm other geographical tautologies.

It's possible to parse that sentence as listing three cities: Singapore, (Shanghai, China), and Hong Kong.

The article has been edited last night. They added two semicolons so that now it reads as in Scott's parsing.
